Krishn Kanhaiya, by Hafeez Jalandhari
Lord Krishna nazm
Krishn Kanhaiya, by Hafeez Jalandhari

This nazm is by Hafeez Jalandhari, the Urdu poet most well-known for composing the lyrics to Pakistan’s national anthem, the Qaumi Taranah. Born in the Punjabi city of Jalandhar (now in India), he moved to Lahore following India and Pakistan’s independence and Partition in 1947. It was a time of mutual co-existence and poets and writers wrote about any deity regardless of their religion. In fact Allama Iqbal who is considered as the father of Pakistan had written a nazm in Praise of Lord Rama.

Below is the Translation of Original Urdu Poem in English, stanza by stanza.

Lady Police bullying citizen

We have seen male police officers bullying poor people, but now Jaipur's Lady police has joined their male counterparts.

While two lady constables on a bike jumped the signal without helmets it was recorded by a citizen. That didnt go well with lady officers and they tried to snatch his camera.

Police is to protect and to serve, but if protectors start breaking the law then who to blame?

Ms Raje, hope you take care of this!

Jaipur, once a well functioning planned city is suffering through one of the worst city administration of its existence. Just a little rain and Jaipur start resembling a banana republic. No one to take care of it Jaipurites are left licking their wounds.

Its a festival season, we all know but city administration is nowhere to be found. Traffic is a mess, roads are clogged with water, poor construction has made major roads and infrastructure to cave in and poor traffic control and disaster management.

Months before Monsoon season roads were dug up in Raja Park for JIO lines, they were just filled with rubbles and sand without any solid repairing. I have been complaining about it to City Mayor Ashok Lahoti and Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje fo...

Recently Jaipur Police and City administration conducted Operation Milap where they tried to find any child begging on the streets. The idea was to find the and rehabilitate them in a humane manner.

Well, lo and behold, they couldn't find a single child begging. I think they forgot to check under their own noses. I commute on Shanti path daily where it goes through all the major Government offices and state Parliament, a route heavily traveled by VIPs. I see kids begging everyday in presence of police, if i can see them then sure as hell police can see them too, well unless they chose not to.

Jaipur gets very pretty during monsoon seasons, except when it is actually raining.

Today during my jogging session at Polo Ground, Central Park the clouds decided to play with sunshine and produce excellent scenery for onlookers.
