Jogging Tracks / Running Routes in Jaipur

Jaipur is one of the few cities in India blessed with many great jogging tracks/ running tracks. You cannot walk a kilometer and not run in to either a park or a ground.

No wonder Jaipur hosts one of the biggest Marathon in India in early months of every year, in fact you can go to Albert Hall or Statue Circle on any non summer weekend and will find one marathon or another for various distances. They have started a night marathon as well.

Being an avid runner myself it was difficult for me to find running tracks in the pink city when i first moved in here. I will list the Running Tracks that i found good by personal experience so you dont have to ask around.

1. Central Park Jaipur

Central Park is the best jogging/ recreational park in all of Jaipur. Its centrally located, well connected to all the major landmarks, ample parking space and well maintained. So If you are looking for casual run, extreme training for long distance runs, jogging or just for walk then this is the best place with plenty of stuff to do for family.

In all the outer perimeter is 4 km (2.5 Miles) taking you to Statue Circle, Ambedkar Circle, Rambagh hotel, and SMS Hospital square.

It also has 950 meters long jogging track in addition at the Polo Ground.

So if you are looking for a long run or a short one, you get it here.

This place also has Jaipur's first open air Gym, Musical fountain, shops for drinks, ice-creams and snacks and Giant Indian flag.

They also have early morning free yoga classes between 6-7 am every day.

You get to see lot of horses, Peacocks, and other birds living in the park and park also has soothing music playing along the track over Bose Speakers.

2. Jawahar Circle Park Jaipur

Jawahar Circle Park has been developed over the years from a dirt mound to a people family park with external jogging area. It is 1.4 km (0.87 miles) between trees and natural environment. It has ample Parking both inside and outside the park and has playzone for kids and fast food area for family outing.

Only problem is when its crowded at the food zone then sometimes you have to make your way among loitering people while running.

Fun factJawahar Circle is claimed by Locals to be the biggest circular park in Asia developed on a highway traffic circle. Its so big at times you dont realize that its actually a traffic circle :)

Its proximity to Airport and major hotel chains in Jaipur makes it very suitable for travelers.

All in all good environment, well maintained by JDA , well accessible and centrally located.

University of Rajasthan has multiple tracks for running and jogging, primarily used by students athletes but its free for all to use.

This track is well maintained with marked lanes and with multiple facilities for warm-up and other generic exercises.

Away from chaos of city this track is situated by mountains and complete green area with only professionals practicing.

If you are someone who do not like people hanging around for fun and want a professional athletics environment then this is the right choice for you.

4. Cricket Ground, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur

This one is adjacent to the Sports Complex above hence sharing all the same facilities.

If for some reason the Sports Complex above is crowded or you want to have a longer lap then this is an ideal ground for you. It is around the periphery of non-existent cricket/football ground of University of Rajasthan. This is deeper in the nature close to the mountains and lot of greenery.

I personally love it because its very quite and provides perfect lap distance.

Basically it has same facilities as above but with longer track as mentioned above

5. Suraj Maidan, Raja Park, Jaipur

If you are in Raja Park then Suraj Maidan, between Ram Gali No 3 and 5 is the best place to jog. Though not as nice as other places but its decent. It has 550 meters running route, half of which is paved and rest is simple dirt.

This place is full of elderly coming for walk or to just hang out, kids playing cricket and other games, people walking their dogs etc. What else do you expect from a ground which is in the middle of a residential colony.

Not the best but decent.
