big question now days. a lot of people are confused including me. relatively new term. Terrorist. what is it. if you go by the name itself then it is someone who terrorizes some one else.
but common knowledge says it is not just anyone, it is not your neighborhood rowdy, it is not the policemen who scares you, it is not your boss, it is not your dad. so is some non solider who kills some one else is a terrorist? after all you cannot call a solider a terrorist, he is just an enemy solider doing his duty. are al-queida terrorists, are laskhar terrorists, are Taliban terrorists? were our freedom fighters terrorists for British? BBC never called them terrorists, instead they call them fighters.we used to call them extremists, and if they do suicide bombing then we would seldomly use the word terrorist for them. is a non uniform bad guy fighting against us without rules a terrorist?
I think it is very subjective. as they say that one men's terrorist is another men's freedom fighter. it is heartbreaking but it seems to be true. we all can wish that the bad guys are just the bad guys for everyone. but this doesn't happen. i hate to admit but i am sure a guy who is terrorist for me may be a freedom/righteous/moral/just fighter for someone else. it cannot be my way, it cannot be public perception either. i dont think we can give a particular definition to this word. in modern times it is associated with Muslim ( or some non Muslims) fighters who kill civilians.
in my mind anyone who attacks military is a fair deal, anyone who attacks civilans is a messed up business. attack on USS Cole in Yemen was a fair target, attack on WTC was not. you fight with my fighters , and i fight with yours.
so what do i think about it, do i think al - queda is terrorist organization, do i think kashmiri separatist combatant organizations , Taliban are terrorists?
i dont want to be divided, i want to make my mind here. are al-queda a terrorist organization = yes, kashmiris violent separatist organizations=" terrorists," but what about Taliban. i dont think that they are terrorists in Afghanistan. its funny how they change their roles, but at the moment they are more like a rebellion group
